Waiwetu Street.

UNO Developments was engaged to undertake the comprehensive renovation of a 1950s-era home located at 50 Waiwetu Street, in the heart of Fendalton—one of Christchurch’s most sought-after suburbs.

Our brief was to retain the timeless integrity of the original architecture while transforming the home into a high-performing, future-ready residence. The renovation required a full architectural overhaul while respecting the home's classic character.

  • The entire interior was stripped back and rebuilt with a focus on quality, comfort, and longevity. Highlights include:

    • A fully rebuilt kitchen and three bathrooms, complete with high-end fixtures, stone surfaces, and bespoke cabinetry.

    • Installation of merino carpet and American oak timber flooring for a warm, grounded material palette.

    • Enhanced lighting, detailing, and finishes throughout, contributing to a calm, contemporary living environment.

At UNO Developments, we believe a renovation should enhance—not erase—a home's original story. At 50 Waiwetu Street, that meant honouring the mid-century bones of the property while crafting a future-ready, elegant home that lives beautifully in the present.

The completed home embodies a strong sense of character and identity. With its clean architectural lines, refined materials, and abundant natural light, the house now feels cohesive, calm, and deeply welcoming. The warmth of oak flooring, the softness of merino carpet, and the precision of contemporary detailing all come together to reflect a quiet confidence in the design.

The result is a sophisticated blend of past and present—a modern classic. The home now stands as a testament to UNO Developments’ design-led, value-driven approach to renovation: crafting homes of enduring quality that respond to both context and lifestyle.
